Kieron Achara Commits to Rocks for Full Season

Great Britain’s Senior Mens co-captain Kieron Achara has joined the Glasgow Rocks for the remainder of the 2014-15 season.

The Scot has previously had two short spells with the BBL club in the 2010 and 2012 on a temporary basis until a better European offer became available.

But this time, Achara, 31, has signed a deal to stay with the Rocks for the entire campaign, which Sterling Davis’ side have begun with a 1-2 record.

“I am more than excited about the thought of Kieron being with us for the entire season for the 1st time,” Davis said. “I have seen first-hand what he can bring to a team on the floor and off, which is his biggest attribute. He is very much a team guy and one that only has the interest of the club at heart.”

Achara averaged 14.3 points and 4.8 rebounds per game during GB’s 2015 EuroBasket qualification campaign during the summer and is now looking forward to being able to settle with his family.

“I am very excited about coming back to Scotland, I feel it’s definitely the right time,” he said. “My family are all here, my fiancée and new baby girl are here, I just felt like it was the right thing to do.”

Glasgow take on Drew Sullivan and the London Lions in the first round of the BBL Cup on Sunday (live on BBL TV) and Achara is set to suit up for a third debut with the Rocks.
