London Lions are closing in on a move for the Great Britain captain Drew Sullivan in a deal that would end his three-year stint at Leicester Riders.
It is understood talks are at an advanced stage with the capital side, with one source claiming the club are “very keen†to acquire the country’s most-capped player.
With Sullivan known to have decided against returning to Leicester, the London-native has opened talks with the Lions although there is, as yet, no finished agreement.
If the switch goes through, the 34-year-old forward would rejoin his former Leicester team-mate Zaire Taylor at the Copper Box.
Club owner Vince Macaulay has denied he may relinquish his coaching role with current assistants Nigel Lloyd and Junior Williams previously thought likely to be considered to step up.
Meanwhile, Anthony Rowe has signed a new two-year contract with Leicester, with the forward currently based at Loughborough University as he continues to rehab following knee surgery earlier in the year.
“Rehab is going really well, it is a long process but when I think back to even two or three weeks ago I have come a long way,” he said. “I am now able to do pretty much everything in the weight room now and am on the treadmill too so everything is moving in the right direction. I just have to do what I can to make the process move smoothly and at the back of my mind that September deadline is always present.”.
