Brixton Topcats avenged their National Trophy Final loss to Leeds with a 65-61 win in the Division 2 Playoff Final on Saturday afternoon at Leeds Metropolitan University.
Ishara Bilson-Graham finished with 16 points and hit two clutch free throws with 16 seconds remaining to seal the win, but it was Charlene St Marthe with her 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists who picked up the MVP award.
Topcats finished with a perfect season, going 11-0 on the regular season to claim the South East conference league title, whilst Leeds Carnegie, who were also perfect, suffered their first loss at the worst possible time.
“It’s been an absolute blessing to coach a special group of ladies on our journey to being crowned league and playoff champions,” tweeted Topcats Head Coach Steve Vear, who is in his first year at the helm of a team.
“…This season is all ours and something we will all never forget.”
Fatumah Lwazi added 13 points for Brixton, whilst Fiona O’Dwyer had 24 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals to lead Leeds. Greta Luksyte also had 24 for Carnegie.
