HOLY SMOKE! NBA GAME IN MEXICO POSTPONED

smokey arena 1You wouldn’t get this at The O2! An NBA Global Games match-up between the San Antonio Spurs and the Minnesota Timberwolves has been postponed, after smoke engulfed the Mexico City Arena.

The game will be made up in Minnesota at a later date.

The NBA says the arena was evacuated about 45 minutes before the tip, when a generator malfunction sent smoke pouring into the building.

Timberwolves reporter Jerry Zgoda tweeted: “Pop says nobody should be breathing what’s in arena, let alone players exerting themselves”.

Adrian Perez, marketing manager for the arena, said fans will be reimbursed.

The NBA Global Games come to London next month, when the struggling Brooklyn Nets face the East’s 5th place Atlanta Hawks at the O2 on January 16.
