England Under-16s got their Division B European Championship campaign off to a solid start with a three point win, 58-55, over Romania on Thursday in Portugal.
Two free throws from Abigail Johnson with 8 seconds left sealed the outcome, as head coach Karen Burton’s side moved to 1-0 in the tournament.
Shanice Norton led England with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals, Rhianna-Mae Laing had 11, whilst Johnson joined them in double figures with 10 points along with her 16 rebounds.
England will now take on Luxembourg on Saturday evening at 4:15pm.
