Brits in College: Week 7 Recap

Alasdair Fraser Maine

Alasdair Fraser MaineBy Rowan Shiell
Some of the guys were lucky enough to have the week off so there were fewer games. We are seven weeks into the season so now is a good time to make necessary adjustments before the start of conference play. One can only imagine that practices were intense. Maybe they weren’t so lucky but it’s the holidays. Hopefully they enjoyed that as well.

The best of the guys that did play were mostly able to add another win to their record.

Player of the Week

Alasdair Fraser | Maine | Junior | Forward | @bigali15

Maine won their only game against Florida Gulf Course (8-5) on Saturday. Fraser had 21 points and seven rebounds. He made eight of a dozen field goal attempts and was four of five from the free throw line.

This is the second time Fraser has won player of the week.

Best of the Rest

Andrew Lawrence | College of Charleston | Senior | Guard | @andrewcofc04.

Lawrence scored seven points to go with three assists in a win over Coastal Carolina (4-6) on Saturday. Cofc (7-4) has won two in a row.

Ashley Hamilton | Loyola Marymount | Senior | Forward | @thekingash

Hamilton had a slow start to the week, scoring only four points in a loss to St Louis (8-3) on Saturday. He had four fouls and made only one of his ten shots. He made all of his free throws (2-2) and had eight rebounds but his team lost by 21.

Hamilton rebounded on Thursday as LMU defeated Morgan State (3-6) by 17. The 6’7” forward had 20 points and seven rebounds. He was eight of ten attempts from the free throw line.

Ben Mockford | St Francis NY | Junior | Guard | @BenMockford

Mockford scored nine points to go with three rebounds as St Francis (3-7) snapped a five game losing streak against Colgate (3-9).

Will Neighbour | Arkansas Little Rock | Junior | Forward

UALR (8-6) had only one game, which was a loss to South Alabama (6-5) on Saturday. Neighbour had 11 points and nine rebounds as UALR got their first loss in conference. They are now 2-1 in the Sun Belt Conference.
