Shane Walker continued his strong play for Loyola with a 20-point, nine-rebound display against Mount St Mary’s on Saturday. He was 10/13 at the free throw line.
Walker’s effort was the pick of the British performances this week, though he was less impressive against George Washington earlier in the week when he recorded his lowest point total of the season. The 6-10 forward had four points and nine rebounds in the win over the Colonials.
Ovie Soko registered his second double-double of the season, putting up 10 points and 10 rebounds against Middle Tennessee State. Soko also had a career-high four assists and missed only one of his six shots in what was probably his best performance of the season.
Alasdair Fraser’s Maine team lost two games this week to leave them with a 3-4 record, though Fraser put up good numbers in both games, against decent opposition. The Falkirk native had 17 points on 8/13 shooting against Notre Dame and six points and 10 rebounds against San Diego. Fraser fouled out of both games with a few minutes remaining.
Will Neighbour was restored to the UALR starting lineup, but he wasn’t needed much on Tuesday as the Trojans beat NAIA school Philander Smith by over 40 points. Neighbour had seven points and five boards in 16 minutes. He followed that up with a team-high 15 points and eight rebounds in a loss to Missouri State.
Former GB under-20 forward Joe Ikhinmwin has not found a consistent spot in the South Carolina State rotation this season, playing 20+ minutes some games and getting DNPs in others. This was his best week so far, as he put up seven points against Norfolk State, and 14 in just 13 minutes against Gardner-Webb.
Ben Mockford struggled offensively in a loss to Colgate, making just one of his eight field goal attempts to finish with five points.
GB guards Andrew Lawrence and Alex Marcotullio did not have games this week, while Ashley Hamilton continues to sit due to injury. The 6-7 forward has now missed seven straight games.
