Durham Wrap Up BUCS Premier North Title

The University of Durham wrapped up the BUCS Premier North regular season title yesterday, beating Worcester 70-59 behind a 21 point performance from Mark Elderkin. The win avenges Durham’s only loss of the season to Worcester in November, giving them a 9-1 record on for the season.

Elsewhere, Northumbria beat Edinburgh 91-86, off the back of some hot shooting from Josh ‘Weezy’ Merrington who hit 7 three’s on his way to 26 points, whilst defending champs Leeds Met routed Loughborough 97-58, leaving Loughborough potentially facing demotion next season after finishing with a 1-9 record.

The final standings of the 2010/2011 BUCS Premier North season are as follows (win-loss):

2. University of Worcester (7-2)*
3. Northumbria University (6-4)
4. Leeds Metropolitan Carnegie (4-6)

6. Loughborough University (1-9)

*Both Worcester and Edinburgh have their result against each other outstanding as it is being contested. Regardless of what the result will be, it will not effect the final standings.
