Team GB and Chicago Bulls star Luol Deng has been nominated for FIBA Europe’s Player of the Year award following his dominant showing for GB this summer in their European qualifiers. The award puts him up against a host of NBA players, including former winners Pau Gasol and Dirk Nowitzki.
His player profile nomination page on FIBA Europe states;
“At 25, Luol Deng is already an NBA veteran, now in his seventh season with the Chicago Bulls. He’s long been one of the team’s top scorers, averaging 17.6 points in last year’s regular season. Luol was simply exceptional in the EuroBasket Qualifying Round this summer, where he produced some astonishing performances. The 2.06m forward led Great Britain in three statistical categories, posting 22.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game and is sure to be one of the big stars of Lithuania 2011.”
Voting is open until January 31st, get it done and vote for Luol here,
