The second-ranked Spartans salvaged a 76-71 win over Washington (No. 11 ESPN/USA Today, No. 13 AP) in the third place game of the Maui Invitational on Wednesday, giving the Huskies their second straight loss. The good news is Matthew Bryan-Amaning regained his form in the loss, having 15 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals in 24 minutes, shooting 5/10 from the field and 5/7 at the line.

Iowa State trounced Kennesaw State 91-51, for its fifth straight win under new coach Fred Hoiberg. After his game-winning buzzerbeater in the last game, Jamie Vanderbeken scored 11 points on 4/5 shooting, 2 rebounds, 3 assists and blocked 2 shots in 22 minutes.

Vermont scored the final four points of the game to take a 51-48 victory over Loyola (Md.). Shane Walker played 32 minutes, scoring 7 points on 3/8 shooting, whilst grabbing 5 rebounds and blocking 2 shots.

Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo secured a 55-48 victory over Loyola Marymount. Ashley Hamilton had 4 points on 2/7 shooting, adding 4 rebounds in 23 minutes.

Rhode Island scored a 74-68 victory over Drexel. Ben Eaves played 13 minutes for URI, scoring 2 points (2/2 at the line, 0/2 from the field) and adding 5 rebounds.

Southern Methodist got an easy 65-32 win over Wayland Baptist on Wednesday night. Myles Luttman played 5 minutes off the bench, remaining scoreless after missing his only field goal attempt, whilst grabbing 2 rebounds and blocking 1 shot.

Eastern Illinois defeated Bradley 63-56 to give them their second straight win. Levi Noel played 8 minutes off the bench, going 0/2 at the line to remain scoreless but did add 2 rebounds.

Providence got an 84-77 victory over Wyoming. Lee Goldsbrough played 3 minutes off the bench, finishing with an empty statline.

Brown held off St. Francis (N.Y.) 67-63. Richard Clark DNP. Oral Roberts got past Arkansas-Little Rock 86-60. Mikey Manghum DNP.
