Brits Solid, NCAA D1 Action

A number of Brits put in solid performance in NCAA D1 action last night. The freshman at Maine, Scot Alasdair Fraser, was moved to a bench role, but responded with his best game of the season so far as they coasted to a 95-44 victory over Maine-Machias,. He played 15 minutes, going 3/4 from the field and 4/7 at the line for for 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 blocked shoots.

Elsewhere, Rhode Island defeated College of Charleston 75-66. Ben Eaves played 14 minutes off the bench for URI, going 1/3 from the field for 3 points, whilst grabbing 4 rebounds. Andrew Lawrence had 8 points, 6 assists, 1 rebound, 2 steals and 1 block in 30 minutes of action for his strongest game of the season so far. He struggled shooting the ball however, going 3/9 from the field (2/8 threes).

In another Brit matchup, SMU got past Portland State 69-53. Paul Guede (PSU), followed up his gamewinner, with a 7 point, 8 rebound performance  in 23 minutes whilst shooting 2/5 from the floor and 2/2 at the line. Myles Luttman (SMU) played 1 minute off the bench, going 0/1 to remain scoreless whilst turning the ball over once.

South Carolina State held off Carver Bible 69-67. Joe Ikhinmwin was moved into the starting role after two double digit performances to start the season, played 14 minutes, scoring 4 points (2/5 shooting), whilst grabbing 7 rebounds and getting 1 steal.

Northwestern remained undefeated with a 71-45 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Alex Marcotullio played 13 minutes off the bench, going 1/4 from the field and 4/4 at the line for 7 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist.

Monmouth got a 69-68 victory over Lehigh. Phil Wait played 17 minutes starting at center, scoring 4 points on 2/5 shooting, whilst pulling down 2 rebounds and blocking 1 shot.

St. Bonaventure used a late surge to edge Cornell 56-54. Ogo Adegboye had a tough night despite playing 39 minutes, going 0/5 from the floor and 2/4 at the line, for 2 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 block.

Boston University used solid defense in the second half to cruise to an easy 58-37 win over Marist. Menelik Watson played 17 minutes, going 2/8 from the floor and 1/2 at the line for 5 points and 5 rebounds. It is the first time in 3 games this season Watson has not fouled out.

Hampton beat Fordham 58-48. Fahro Alihodzic finished with 2 rebounds in 8 minutes.

Mississippi State to a come-from-behind 76-74 victory over Appalachian State. Ryan Kilmartin registered a DNP. Campbell beat Middle Tennessee 97-90 for their first win of the season. Awosanya registered a DNP.
