Kieron Achara Signs with Glasgow Rocks

GB International Kieron Achara has signed a deal with BBL side Glasgow Rocks after a potential move to Barcelona has fallen through.

The 6’10, 245lb power forward originally from Stirling, Scotland, is expected to play a key role for the Rocks in what is rumoured to be a short term contract.

Player Coach Sterling Davis is excited by the signing:

“Keiron is a big coupe for the organization and the team. If you ever get a chance to grab a player of his calibre you have to jump on it.'”

“I think he will fit in well with the guys and the system we have in place because of his versatility to step out on the perimeter. He’s the type of guy that does a lot of things that dont always show up on the stat sheets.”

The news comes after the Rocks have released 6’9″ big man Hugh Barnett, who has just finished his college career at NCAA Division 1 school Arkansas Pine Bluff, after just two games.

Achara is expected to suit up later today when the Rocks take on the Sheffield Sharks in the continuation of the 1st round of the Trophy Cup (5.00pm tip, Kelvin Hall).
