Team 'Inception', winners of the Men's division in Bristol
The second of three Midnight Madness qualifiers this summer went down in Bristol on Saturday at the City Academy Bristol, and whilst there weren’t as many people in attendance as the week before in Leyton, it was not short of highlights.

Random Thoughts/Notes
- The game of the day was the Men’s division final between the eventual winners “Inception” (roster listed above) and “Young Money”-a team made entirely of U20’s, led by Ovie Soko. Despite losing in the first matchup between the two teams earlier in the group stages, Young Money came out with renewed vigour in the final pushing the older more experienced Inception to the limit, sending the game to OT before losing.
- In the U20’s ‘Elite’ were the surprise winners, beating the stacked “Annihilation” team made up of Adam Thoseby, Henry Wilkins, David Wakanena, Luke Rogers, Spencer Wells and Andy Salmons in the final.
- The U18’s was once again a little disappointing in standard. I’m not sure whether it’s because last year was a particularly strong generation (the same generation which are incidently playing U20’s this year which is by far the most entertaining division) so we were spoilt and we’re facing reality against this year, but I expected more.
- There were three, yes three, dunks off the backboard throughout the day.
- A few standout players that are fresh in my mind-Adam Thoseby destroyed the U20’s all day though had a quiet Final, Warren Francis was also dunking everything in the U20’s, Ed Lucas in the U18’s back from a couple of years in High School in the states was impressive, Ovie Soko yet again was dominant (this time in the men’s division), whilst all of Inception (a definite team effort) and the ‘Generals’ made up of GB U20 ballers Will Neighbour, Myles Hesson, Jack Stannard and England international Matt Guymon were awesome to watch (again, in the Men’s division).
- Orlan Jackman almost threw down a dissssgusting facial on a break but unfortunately back-rimmed it. Woulda been one of the biggest of the summer.
- Final Midnight Madness 2010 qualifier of the summer this weekend in Nottingham, am intrigued to see how it all turns out. Looking forward to it!
