Ogo Leads, Brits in the NCAA Recap 03/03/10

There were six Brits in action last night with Ogo Adegboye at the forefront…

Ben EavesBen Eaves (6′7, 225lbs, F, Senior, Lancashire) Rhode Island Rams
Rhode Island used a second-half surge to pull away from Charlotte 80-58 last night. Ben Eaves finished with 2 points on 1/2 shooting and added 2 rebounds and a steal in just 6 minutes off the bench.

The Rams are now 21-7 (9-6 Atlantic 10 Conference).

Fahro Alihodzic (6′10, 235lbs, F/C, Freshman, Leicester) Fordham Rams
No. 25 Xavier beat the Rams 82-56, moving a win closer to at least a share of its fourth straight Atlantic 10 regular-season championship. It was the 19th straight loss for the struggling Rams. Fahro Alihodzic played 22 minutes in the starting spot,  going 1/2 from the field for 2 points, adding 3 rebounds and 1 block.

The Rams are now 2-25 (0-15 A-10).

Morakinyo Williams (7′0, 270lbs, C, Sophomore, Solihull) Duquesne Dukes
Ogo Adegboye’s St Bonaventure Bonnies secured a 92-80 over Duquesne on Wednesday night. Morakinyo Williams got 8 minutes in the starting role which seems a bit odd (injury?), finishing with an empty statline with 4 turnovers (perhaps that explains it!).

The Dukes are now 15-14 (6-9 A-10).

Myles LuttmanMyles Luttman (6′11, 230lbs, C, Junior, Birmingham) Southern Methodist Mustangs.
Tulsa hit two free throws with 9.1 seconds left to edge Southern Methodist 58-55 Wednesday night. Luttman finished with 2 points (2/2 at the line), and 2 rebounds in 8 minutes during the loss.

The Mustangs are now 14-15 (7-8 C-USA).

Ogo AdegboyeOgo Adegboye (6′0, 185lbs, G, Junior, London) St. Bonaventure Bonnies
As already mentioned, the Bonnies beat Duquesne 92-80, giving them their fourth straight win. The Bonnies have a one-game lead over the Dukes (15-14, 6-9) and George Washington in the conference, with one game apiece left. If St. Bonaventure holds on to finish eighth overall, it would host a first-round league tournament game.
Adegboye played 22 minutes off the bench, going 2/5 from the floor (1/4 threes) and 3/5 at the line to finish with 8 points, adding 4 assists and 2 rebounds.

The Bonnies now stand at 14-14 (7-8 Atlantic 10 Conference).

Ovie SokoOvie Soko (6′8, 225lbs, F, Freshman, London) UAB Blazers
Memphis defeated Alabama-Birmingham 70-65 on Wednesday night for the Tigers’ ninth consecutive victory in the series. The loss snapped the Blazers’ four-game winning streak and dealt a blow to their NCAA tournament chances. Ovie Soko played 16 minutes going 0/3 from the floor to remain scoreless, but did add 4 rebounds and 1 steal.

The UAB Blazers are now 23-6 (11-4 C-USA).
