22 Players in Action, Brits in the NCAA Roundup 20/02/10

A hugely busy night for Brits in the NCAA last night, with 22 of a possible 34 having games to play, read on to see how they got on…

Andrew Lawrence (6’1, 185lbs, G, Freshman, London) Charleston Cougars.

College of Charleston secured an 85-83 win over George Mason on Saturday night, their third straight and sixth in seven games. Andrew Lawrence got 14 minutes off the bench, finishing with 3 points (1/3 three’s), 2 rebounds and 1 assist.

College of Charleston Cougars are now 19-9 (13-3 Southern).

Ashley Hamilton (6’7, 210lbs, F, Freshman, London) Loyola Marymount Lions
Loyola Marymount secured a 77-68 overtime win against Portland on Saturday. Fresh off the back of his outstanding performance against Gonzaga, Ashley Hamilton again did well, finishing with 12 points (4/7 from the field, 4/7 at the line), 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal in 33 minutes.

The LMU Lions are now 15-13 (6-6 WCC).

Ben Allison (6′9, 220lbs, F, Sophomore, West Sussex) Davidson Wildcats

Davidson defeated Furman 61-58 on Saturday. Ben Allison had a respectable 5 points (1/2 field goals, 3/3 at the line) in just 10 minutes of playing time, adding 2 rebounds and 1 assist.

Davidson are now 14-13 (9-6 Southern).

Ben Eaves (6′7, 225lbs, F, Senior, Lancashire) Rhode Island Rams
As seen above, Rhode Island secured an easy 101-75 victory over Fordham last night. Ben Eaves finished with 4 points on 2/3 shooting (0/2 at the line).

The Rams are now 20-6 (8-5 A-10).

Devan Bailey (6’2, 180lbs, G, Freshman, Helsby) Central Connecticut State Blue Devils
Central Connecticut State edged Wagner 62-60 on Saturday night to snap a three-game losing streak. A potential battle of the Brits never materialised as Wagner’s London big man, Clayfell Harris has been out all season due to a foot injury. Devan Bailey however, had a great all around game finishing with 8 points (4/8 shooting), 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 1 block in a full 40 minutes of action.

CCSU are now 10-17 (7-9 Northeast Conference).

Fahro Alihodzic (6′10, 235lbs, F/C, Freshman, Leicester) Fordham Rams
Rhode Island swept the season series with a 101-75 win over Fordham on Saturday. Fahro Alihodzic played 23 minutes, finishing with 2 points (1/3 shooting), 6 rebounds and 1 block.

The Rams are having a very tough season, now standing at 2-23 (0-13 A-10).

Glen Izevbigie (6’10, 230lbs, C, Senior, London) Savannah State Tigers
Longwood defeated Savannah State 68-54 on Saturday. Glen Izevbigie registered 3 minutes, finishing with an empty statline apart from 1 turnover.

The Tigers are now 10-15 (0-1 Indep.).

Hugh Barnett (6’9, 265lbs, F/C, Senior, London) Arkansas Pine-Bluff Golden Lions

Lebaron Weathers hit a jumper as time expired in overtime to give Arkansas-Pine Bluff a 57-55 victory against Prairie View A&M on Saturday night. Bad news for our Brit though as he registered a DNP.

Arkansas Pine Bluff are now 11-14 (11-3 SWAC).

Justin Robinson (6’2, 190lbs, G, Junior, London) Rider Broncs
Hofstra defeated Rider 92-89 in overtime on Saturday. Justin Robinson played 40 minutes before fouling out in the loss, having a nice all around game with 12 points (4/11 from the field, 2/4 threes and 2/4 at the line), 6 rebounds, 5 assists and a steal.

Rider are now 15-14 (8-8 MAAC).

Kene Anusionwu (6’8, 215lbs, F/C, London) Bethune-Cookman Wildcats
Hampton routed Bethune-Cookman 71-44 on Saturday. More bad news for Brits, as Kene Anusionwu registered a DNP.

Bethune Cookman are now 14-13 (6-7 MEAC).

Liam Potter (7’0, 230lbs, F/C, Senior, Lincolnshire) Sacred Heart Pioneers.
St. Francis (Pa.) secured their fourth straight victory with a 73-68 win over Sacred Heart on Saturday. Liam Potter did well in the loss, finishing with 7 points (2/3 shooting, 3/4 at the line), a monster 13 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks.

SHU are now 13-14 (6-10 NEC).

Matthew Bryan-Amaning (6’9, 240lbs, F, Junior, London) Washington Huskies
The Huskies secured a 97-68 rout of UCLA on Saturday night. Bryan-Amaning, who has seemed to have found some consistency of late with 5 straight games of double digit points, finished with 12 points on 5/6 shooting from the field (2/4 at the line) adding 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 steals in just 21 minutes.

The Huskies are now 18-9 (8-7 PAC 10).

Mikey Manghum (6’1, 175lbs, G, Freshman, Derby) Oral Roberts Golden Eagles
Oral Roberts came on strong in the second half to defeat Austin Peay 89-80 on Saturday night. Mikey Manghum registered a DNP.

The Golden Eagles are now 17-12 (11-5 Summit).

Myles Luttman (6′11, 230lbs, C, Junior, Birmingham) Southern Methodist Mustangs.
Memphis defeat Southern Methodist 76-63 for a comfortable victory last night. Myles Luttman registered a DNP.

The Mustangs are now 12-14 (5-7 C-USA).

Ovie Soko (6′8, 225lbs, F, Freshman, London) UAB Blazers
Alabama-Birmingham downed Houston 75-66 on Saturday night to won their second game in a row after losing three of their previous four. Ovie Soko only played 8 minutes before getting benched, not attempting a field goal but grabbing 2 rebounds.

UAB Blazers are now 21-5 (9-3 Conference USA).

Paul Guede (6’5, 205lbs, G/F, Junior, London) Portland State Vikings
Northern Colorado held off Portland State 64-61 Saturday night. Paul Guede had 8 points (3/7, 2/4 threes), 7 rebounds and 1 assist in 33 minutes of action.

PSU are now 10-17 (5-9 Big Sky).

Raheem May-Thompson (6’6, 200lbs, Freshman, F, London) Quinnipiac Bobcats
Quinnipiac defeated Robert Morris 87-79 on Saturday night. May-Thompson registered 3 minutes off the bench, securing 1 rebound and going 1/2 at the line for a single point.

The Bobcats are now 19-8 (13-3 NEC).
Richard Clark (6’9, 215lbs, C, Sophomore, Berkshire) St. Francis (N.Y.) Terriers.
Despite losing to Brown’s and Fernley’s FDU Knights, Richard Clark has some consolation in that he got to play (albeit not a lot). He registered 3 minutes off the bench, going 0/1 from the field to finish scoreless but securing 2 rebounds.

The Terriers are now 10-17 (7-9 NEC).


Sam Fernley (6’0, 175lbs, G, Sophomore, Sheffield) Fairleigh Dickinson Knights.

Alvin Mofunanya’s jumper from just inside the 3-point arc with 3 seconds remaining gave Fairleigh Dickinson a 56-55 victory over St. Francis (NY) on Saturday. Neither of the Brits who play for FDU, Sam Fernley or Lawrence Brown (see below) registered any minutes,

Fairleigh Dickinson are now 10-19 (9-7 NEC).

Lawrence Brown (7’2, 205lbs, C, Senior, Portsmouth) Fairleigh Dickinson Knights.
See above. Lawrence Brown unfortunately also registered a DNP.

Shane Walker (6’10, 211lbs, F, Sophomore, Northampton) Loyola (Md.) Greyhounds
Loyola (Md.) suffered a heartbreaking loss, losing 61-60 to New Hampshire on a Tyrone Conley jumper with 1 second remaining. Shane Walker played 25 minutes for the Greyhounds, finishing with 5 points (2/5 field goals, 0/1 threes, 1/2 at the line), 2 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocks.

The Greyhounds are now 12-15 (5-11 MAAC).

Will Oghuaregbe (6’8, 255lbs, F, Freshman, London) North Carolina-Wilmington Seahawks
Radford secured a 76-68 win over North Carolina-Wilmington on Saturday night. Oghuaregbe had an active 13 minutes in the loss, finishing with 4 points (2/3 field goals), 8 rebounds (4 offensive), and 1 assist.

NCW are now 8-20 (4-12 CAA).
