Jesse Chuku Commits to Lehigh University

Jesse Chuku
England Under-18 Jesse Chuku (1993 born) has committed to NCAA Division 1 school Lehigh University for 2012.

The 6’8″ 210lbs forward, currently attending Kimball Union Academy sat out last season with a serious medical condition but has been regaining his fitness and form over the summer starring for Metro Boston on the AAU circuit.

Talking to Hoopsfix, Chuku explained why he felt Lehigh was a great fit for him:

“I felt like it was the best situation for me from an athletic and academic standpoint. They have great coaches and players, I felt very comfortable being there on my visit. I also like their style of play and I feel as though I will fit in nicely.

“I see an opportunity to make an instant impact on the team. The coaches feel that I can be very effective in their 4 out 1 in system where I can take advantage of both my perimeter and inside skills.”

The former Barking Abbey student and London Pioneer also had interest from the likes St. Bonaventures, Boston University, Vermont, Northeastern, Missouri and Robbert Morris.

Kimball Union head coach Mike Olson feels Jesse has a great future ahead of him:

“Jesse was looking for a combination of exceptional coaching and academics. In Lehigh University and coach Brett Reed, he has found it.

“Jesse is an impressive young man with a very bright future. Many people have helped him to this point and he is very appreciative and humbled by this opportunity. There is no question in my mind that his work ethic, attitude and skill set will carry him to great things.”

Hoopsfix wants to wish Jesse all the best with his college career!
