Copper Box Arena

London Lions Copper Box Arena
Copper Box Arena, known as the Copper Box, is a basketball arena with a capacity of 6,000 people in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, East London.

It is home to the London Lions of the British Basketball League (BBL) and Women’s British Basketball League (WBBL).

It is also used for other events, concerts, meetings, sports, and the community, where it can be configured for up to 7,500 spectators.

Construction began on it in 2009 and completed in early 2011 for the London 2012 Olympic games, where it was used for handball and modern pentathlon. It cost £44million.

In January 2012, the venue was renamed the Copper Box from the Handball Arena, much to British Handball’s dismay.

The London Lions relocated to the Copper Box ahead of the 2013-14 season, playing their first game there on 14 August 2013 in front of a sell-out crowd, losing 72–107 to Iowa.
