London Lions secured their fourth trophy of the season with a convincing win over Cheshire Phoenix in the SLB Playoffs final, at The O2 Arena.
Joel Scott led the way with a first half double-double on the way to claiming MVP honours with 22 points and 17 rebounds in the Lions’ 104-81 success, on Sunday.
London raced out of the blocks with 35 points in the opening 10 minutes as they started on a 17-5 run to take control. League MVP Pat Robinson had eight points off the bench for Cheshire, but they found themselves in an early 15-point hole.
The combination of Scott and Shavar Reynolds helped the Lions lead grow in the second, with a late three from Reynolds making it 61-43 in their favour going into the half-time break.
Laquincy Rideau and Robinson hit threes early in the third as the Phoenix threatened a revival, but could not cut their arrears back into single figures. The Lions found more offence through Kameron McGusty and Aaryn Rai to pull clear again at 77-61.
There was no way back from there, as London started to put on a clinic in the final quarter to wrap up a comprehensive win in style.
Ovie Soko checked in to the loudest reception of the day for what was his final appearance of his pro career.
