Manchester Mystics U16 Girls National Cup 2025 Champions

Manchester Mystics defended their Under-16 girls National Cup title with a 77-71 come from behind victory over Milton Keynes Breakers on Saturday afternoon at the University of Worcester Arena.

Adele Tang took home MVP honours with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting, as Manchester had a 23-7 fourth quarter to come from as many as 13 down, and overcome turning over the ball 36 times.

Luna Etienne had 23 points for Manchester, Anya Williams had 12 and Tassimy Cassinda added 11.

“We said at the half-time it was going to take a little bit more than what we gave in the first half,” Mystics’ head coach Max Watts commented.

“I think we had 22 turnovers. It was just taking more care of the ball; game management, crashing the glass and actually just putting two hands on the rebound – and finishing the defensive possessions.

“The National Cup sets precedent for when we get towards [Jnr. NBL] Final Fours, league standings and dictating the rest of our season. Lots of new girls [in the Final], we only had three [in the team] that won it last year, but they wanted it.”

Breakers were led by 17 points from Chantelle Okoli and 13 points, 13 rebounds from Chinemerem Ibegbulam.

Box score.
