London Lions suffered a heartbreaking 85-93 defeat at the hands of Paris Basketball to bring their EuroCup campaign to an end at the Copper Box Arena on Friday evening.
The Paris victory sealed a 2-0 sweep of their best-of-three semifinal series following the London Lions’ Game one defeat in France.
London head coach Petar Bozic praised his team for a gritty performance which encapsulated a fine season in the EuroCup, as the Lions became the first British team to reach the last four in European competition.
“I am not just proud, I am happy and honoured to be a part of this group,” the Serbian tactician said.
“It’s been an amazing season in the EuroCup and we’ve accomplished some historic things for British basketball.”
In front of a raucous crowd, their second sellout game of their European campaign, the Lions put up a fight in a back and forth affair, taking a lead in the second before once again having a slower third that allowed Paris to take control.
The visitors were able to hold onto their lead throughout the fourth quarter to secure a place in the EuroCup finals.
