London Lions suffered a heartbreaking, 82-80, defeat against Joventut Badalona at home in BKT EuroCup action on Wednesday evening.
After a Matt Morgan drive to tie the game at 80 with five seconds remaining, Joventut’s Andres Feliz drove right and sank a 15-foot floater with 0.2 seconds left to break the hearts of the Lions.
Donte Grantham’s hail mary three point attempt at the buzzer bounced off the backboard to seal Lion’s fate as they now will have to try again to secure second place in the group.
The victory meant the Spanish side extended their winning streak to seven games, though both teams have a matching 10-5 record.
Matt Morgan scored a game-high 20 points. David Nwaba recorded 14 points and collected eight rebounds for his second EuroCup game with the Lions.

Vladimir Brodzianski led Joventut Badalona with 14 points, five Badalona players scored in double digits. Shannon Evans recorded 12 points, five rebounds and seven assists.

Up next, the London Lions will host Besiktas Istanbul for Round 16 of BKT EuroCup at the Copper Box Arena on January 24th at 7.30pm in an anticipated sell out with over 2,000 Turkish fans expected.
