Justin Robinson is set to make a long-awaited return after signing with Surrey Scorchers for the 2023-24 season.
The two-time BBL league MVP has been out of action since sustaining a serious injury during the BBL playoffs in April 2022, but returned to competitive play this summer in the Hoopsfix Pro-Am.
Robinson had been with the Lions since 2017, but is now set for a new challenge in the upcoming campaign.
“After missing a season due to an almost career-ending injury, I’m really excited to be joining the Scorchers and looking forward to making this my home,” he said via release.
Scorchers head coach, Lloyd Gardner added: “Any time you have the ability to add a two-time league MVP to your team it is a great moment. Justin has proved himself and his quality both in this league and abroad, so we know the type of player and person we have joining the team.
“I think that he is also someone with the frustrations of the last few seasons who has a point to prove to others which I’m excited about.”
Robinson brings a vast amount of experience and professionalism to a Surrey side that has struggled in recent seasons.
The club have already confirmed the returns of captain Tayo Ogedengbe, for his ninth season, and Josh Steel as they look to end a baron run without making the playoffs since 2018.
