Nate Reinking out as GB Head Coach as BBF begins recruitment

Nate Reinking Great Britain

Nate Reinking has been confirmed out as Great Britain Senior Men’s Head Coach as the BBF have announced they are recruiting for the role, along with a General Manager for the team.

The BBF said in a statement that Reinking “unfortunately cannot commit the time needed to continue in the role as Head Coach and, following consultation with the BBF, has vacated the position”.

Following his hiring in 2019, Reinking has been unavailable for six out of the eight FIBA competition windows, with Marc Steutel taking the reins as acting Head Coach while he has been absent on duties with the Cleveland Cavaliers where he is an assistant coach.

Along with a Head Coach, the BBF are seeking a GM – a role Dan Clark has been fulfilling, as the BBF envisions the two roles working in a strategic performance environment, allowing the Head Coach to devote the time needed to progressing on-court areas, whilst the General Manager drives the strategy and operations of the team in conjunction with the Head Coach.

Once the Head Coach and General Manager have been appointed, further staff members will be recruited.

The BBF added their thanks to both Reinking and Steutel for their roles, saying they are eager to continue working with Nate in other ways, and invite all current coaching and performance staff to re-apply for any positions they are interested in.

Further information on camps and preparatory friendlies taking place in the summer will be announced soon.
