Issy Bunyan picks up WBBL Young Player of the Year award

Issy Bunyan has been recognised for her performances at Cardiff Met Archers after being named WBBL Young Player of the Year for the 2022-23 season.

The GB Under-18 forward had another improved campaign with the Welsh club with averages of 11.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 blocks per game.

Bunyan netted 20+ points on three occasions in league play with a best of six blocks in a single game coming against Nottingham on the way to helping the Archers to the playoffs.

It is another accolade for the 18-year-old after earning the MVP honour in the Under-19 Women’s game at last year’s Hoopsfix All-Star Classic as well as being named this season’s WNBL D1 Defensive Player of the Year.

Bunyan becomes the sixth recipient of the award to join previous winners Savannah Wilkinson, Georgia Gayle, Gabby Nikitinaite, Holly Winterburn and Praise Egharevba.
