GB Senior Men to face Greece amongst 2023 World Cup qualifiers group

GB Senior Men will take on Greece, Turkey and Belarus in Group B of the FIBA World Cup 2023 qualifiers after the draw took place on Tuesday.

They emerged from Pot 6 as the 42nd ranked team in the FIBA World Rankings, and have never qualified for a World Cup, though they will compete at next year’s FIBA EuroBasket.

Marc Steutel was the stand-in head coach during the successful qualifying campaign that saw GB beat both Germany and France on their way to securing a spot at the major tournament in 2022.

GB will continue their journey towards the 2023 World Cup – held in Philippines, Japan and Indonesia – with the first of six windows taking place in November.

The top three teams from each group will advance to the Second Round, where teams will be split into four groups of four and it will be the top three teams in each group that qualify.
