With the Tokyo 2020 Olympics basketball set to start this weekend, despite no GB team presence, every UK hoops fan is wondering where to watch the basketball from the UK.
Tipping off on Sunday 25th July, 12 of the best teams in the world are split into 3 groups, with the top 2 set to advance from each pool, along with the two best third-placed teams to set up the quarter-finals.
On the men’s side, Argentina, Australia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Japan, Nigeria, Spain, Slovenia and USA will be facing off.
On the women’s side, Korea, Serbia, Canada, Spain, Nigeria, Japan, France, USA, Australia, Puerto Rico, China and Belgium will be battling it out.
Despite BBC being set to show 350 hours of coverage live and free to air across the Red Button, iPlayer and BBC Sport website, there is not a clear schedule on what they will actually be covering during their broadcast times.
Additionally, the BBC only has the rights to show two sports at the same time.
The BBC is allowed to show two sports at the same time – Discovery+ / Eurosport have the rights (as they do across Europe) for all sports at the same time.
It’s a shame, but this is an issue with sports rights / the Olympics / IOC and not really public service broadcasters.

Therefore, the best option is Eurosport, which will be shown on their broadcast channel, the Eurosport app and discovery+ – which will cost £6.99 a month or there is a special offer at the moment of £29.99 for the first year.
Eurosport has the rights to show all sports at the same time, so will feature the basketball in its entirety.
If you already have Amazon Prime, you can get Eurosport Player through it for £6.99 per month by clicking here.
And if you are looking for a team to adopt – try Iran. Former Manchester Magic and England U18 big man Aaron Geramipoor is suiting up inside for the squad, having represented Iran at the FIBA Basketball World Cup in 2019.
