5or6 Elite returns with capital move

Myles Hesson 5or6 Elite

After a successful first event in 2019, 5or6 Elite returns next week in a new format, with a new location and line-up.

The invite-only camp boasts nine full Great Britain Internationals including captain Myles Hesson, Kavell Bigby-Williams and guard Andrew Lawrence, whilst this year will move from Loughborough to London. Full location details are being kept confidential to allow the athletes to focus without distraction from spectators.

With the aim of providing elite-level competition for pros and future pros in one location, the event hand selects players to go head to head against each other whilst also doing skills and drills work.

It is organised by brand and marketing agency 5or6 – a sponsor of the Hoopsfix All-Star Classic – who have become entrenched in British basketball over the years following their work with Leicester Riders and the BBL.

“We’re thrilled to be back this year,” commented 5or6 Elite director Peter Simmons.

“The camp is aimed at helping elite-level athletes get some valuable work in with like-minded players. It’s an opportunity for some of the younger end to learn what they can from the senior guys.”

“That’s why we want talent from the NCAA, BBL and players from the top European leagues. It’s a unique opportunity for the seniors to workout but also pass on their wisdom to the others around them.”

Skills Coach Gary Maitland and Loughborough University Head Coach Mark Jarram will head up the coaching staff, with lead therapist Tim Kayode (Myoset) and strength & conditioning lead George Crook (F45 Blackwall) completing the expertise.

“Gary, Mark, Tim and George all have experience working with some of the very best athletes,” Simmons added.

“It’s an awesome opportunity for the players to further their development and garner information from some of the best guys in the country.”
