HEMSLEY SUBBBED AT SHARKS FOR MCKNIGHT

Sheffield Sharks have axed long-time playmaker Mackey McKnight in a surprise move.

Atiba Lyons has instead brought in Californian native Jeremy Hemsley as his new lead guard ahead of the start of the BBL Championship.

The newcomer came out of San Diego State University in 2019, where he averaged ten points and three assists, but did not play last season.

“It is disappointing to have to make a change after the season has gotten underway but given that we have probably played the top teams so far, we can see what strengths we needed to add and now was the time to do it,” said Lyons.

“This decision is no reflection on Mackey as a professional he has made significant contributions to this club which we appreciate him for, and we wish him well.”

Sharks next home game is on Sunday 29 November at Ponds Forge with confirmation it will be streamed live via the BBL’s new streaming platform on Nunchee.

“I am excited for this opportunity with the Sharks,” said Hemsley.

“This will be my first chance to prove my ability on a professional level and I am looking forward to helping the Sharks in any way they need me to.”
