DAN CLARK PADDLES ONTO CANOE

Great Britain captain Dan Clark is staying in Spain.

The 32-year-old is dropping down one tier from the ACB to join Madrid club, Real Canoe, who play in the country’s second division, LEB Oro.

Last season, the Londoner played for Andorra for a short spell but insisted the move should not be seen as a step down but an opportunity to showcase his talent after two seasons of injuries.

“On a personal level, I want to get back to being the player that I have shown that I can be,” he said. “I continue to aspire to play at the highest level. and I think I still have a lot of basketball within me. I will also put everything at the disposal of the team to win as many games as possible.

“I do not see being the star as a responsibility. Rather it is a privilege. My greatest contribution I believe will be helping the team through the experience and education that I have had playing in a competition like the ACB.”

The LEB season starts this week.
