Asha Andrews (’03 born) announces verbal commitment to Hawai’i

Asha Andrews has announced her verbal commitment to the University of Hawai’i for the 2021-22 season.

The GB junior international is headed to the Big West Conference with the Rainbow Wahine, who last made it to the NCAA Division 1 Championship in 2016.

“I’m super excited right now,” Andrews told Hoopsfix. “[I’m] so grateful for this opportunity and I can’t wait to get out there, meet new people, experience new cultures and test myself at the D1 level.

“The coaching staff were so welcoming and I feel they truly believe in me. It can’t get much better than playing in paradise!

“This season I want to work on my fitness, playing in the WBBL will definitely help with this.”

Andrews featured in 10 league games for Sevenoaks Suns in the WBBL last season having developed through their programme, whilst participating for GB at junior level.

The 17-year-old was ruled out of the FIBA Under-16 European Championships in 2018 before averaging 6.9 points the following summer as well as competing for GB Under-18s with a best of 11 points on two occasions.
