Great Britain’s Kavell Bigby-Williams tipped in a missed shot at the buzzer to give No. 19 LSU a 73-71 upset win over No. 5 Kentucky on Tuesday night at Rupp Arena.
After Kentucky had tied the game at 71 with less than seven seconds on a pair of free throws, LSU got the ball on the inbounds to Skylar Mays who drove down the sideline and miss the lay up attempt but Bigby-Williams was able to get a hand to it and tip the ball in at the horn.
The officials reviewed the play and confirmed it counted.
The 1995 born 6’11” big man had 5 points on 2-of-2 shooting, along with 2 blocks, as he is averaging 7.8 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game on 69.3% shooting in just 19 minutes per game.
The win was LSU’s sixth win without a loss on the road in league play and just the sixth all-time in Lexington by LSU. The Tigers last won in Rupp in the SEC Championship year of 2009.
