Copper Box Arena Hosts All-European ‘Titans Trophy’ Clash

EuroLeague side Zalgiris Kaunas will take on Polski Cukier Torun in a European friendly at London’s Copper Box Arena on Friday.

The Lithuanian-Polish encounter is a pre-season friendly with the two teams battling it out for the Titans Trophy.

Native fans from both countries living in the English capital are expected to fill out the Olympic Park venue and provide a lively atmosphere.

Zalgiris have won the league title in Lithuania the past seven years and are one-time EuroLeague champions 18 years ago after beating Bologna in the 1999 final.

The current roster includes last season’s team-leading scorer in EuroLeague, Paulius Jankunas, as well as two players who competed at the recent EuroBasket tournament.

Meanwhile, Polski Cukier Torun were runners-up in Poland’s top-flight playoffs last year after falling to a 4-1 series loss against Stelmet Zielona Gora.

Jordi Bertomeu – President of EuroLeague – is expected to be present as an honorary guest.
