Sky Becomes Euroleague’s UK Rights-Holder, Replaces BT Sport

Sky Sports has acquired the rights for the Euroleague in the UK, replacing BT Sport.

The deal tipped off on Wednesday, as Real Madrid against Olympiacos was broadcast on Sky Sport Mix – which is available for free to Sky subscribers who do not have a sports package subscription.

Sport Business reports the length of the deal has not been disclosed, but the Euroleague said that Sky would show “regular weekly games.”

Joel Freeland is the only British player currently on a Euroleague roster, having signed a two year deal with CSKA Moscow in 2015, however he is currently rehabbing a shoulder injury and not expected to return until early 2017.

Sky replaces rival BT Sport as the Euroleague’s domestic rights-holder in the UK.
