Basketball England (BE) have announced the appointment of Clare Wardle as their new Chair for the next three years – taking over the role from Grace Jacca.
Jacca had been Interim Chair since Jan Hagen stepped down as Independent Chair of BE last November.
Wardle joins the role with vast experience in leadership positions and is also set for an imminent move to Coca-Coal European Partners as General Counsel and Company Secretary having spent the past six years as Group General Counsel of Kingfisher, plc.
She has also previously held senior roles at Tube Lines Ltd. and the Royal Mail Group and also has experience of working within sport; currently serving as a Non-Executive Director on the GB Modern Pentathlon board.
“Basketball has fantastic potential in England and I am looking forward to hearing from everyone involved on how we all work together to realise it,” said Wardle.
Basketball England’s CEO, Stewart Kellett, added: “Clare is joining us at the perfect moment to respond to the needs of the basketball community as we seek to radically change the way we engage with our stakeholders and respond with new services and methods to create growth and success in the game.
“A crucial part of this transformation is building our leadership and governance capabilities and engaging everyone in the game, our key partners and investors.”
