Joe Prunty to Remain GB Senior Head Coach for EuroBasket 2017 Qualifiers

Joe Prunty will remain as Head Coach of the GB Senior Men’s National Team ahead of the EuroBasket 2017 qualifiers, it has been confirmed.

The announcement comes a day before GB learn their fate at the FIBA EuroBasket 2017 qualifiers draw, in Munich.

GB have been put in the third pot of seeds along with the likes of Austria, Sweden and Switzerland and they will continue to have Prunty at the helm.

“I am honoured to be able to continue as Head Coach of the GB Men’s senior team,” he said.

“We are excited for the opportunity to make it back to the Final Round.”

Prunty is also assistant to Jason Kidd with the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA, and has been temporarily in charge in recent weeks due to Kidd undergoing hip surgery.

The qualifiers will take place between 31 August and 17 September later this year with 11 places still up for grabs for next year’s FIBA EuroBasket 2017, which will take place in Finland, Israel, Romania and Turkey.

As well as the qualifiers draw, the youth European Championships draws will take place on Friday with GB Basketball currently looking for a new Head Coach to take the reigns of the Under-20’s side.
