GB U20 Women Drop to 0-3 Despite Adebayo Double Double

Great Britain were unable to overcome Greece as they fell to a 60-52 loss on the third day of the U20 European Championship Women Division B.

Searching for their first victory of the tournament, GB pushed hard but didn’t quite have enough for the win – despite an outstanding performance from Evelyn Adebayo, who produced a stellar 17 points and 16 rebounds.

Both teams had initially been involved in an exciting tussle, although a strong Greece run late in the opening quarter witnessed them move 23-14 in front.

GB replied in gutsy fashion and having fallen 14 points behind, worked their way back into contention with a terrific 16-4 run either side of half-time.

Sarah Thomson dropped a couple of triples and another by Sadie Russell helped to haul GB back into contention as they made it a one-shot game at 37-35.

Greece then sparked themselves back into action with a 13-3 run of their own to take control again and while GB fought hard and made a really strong challenge during the last ten minutes, they were unable to overhaul their opponents.

Thomson finished with 14 points and five rebounds, but the star of the show for GB was Adebayo who produced one of her best ever displays in a national team vest.
