Brits Abroad – Week 29 Recap

The NBA playoffs have begun with Joel Freeland so far playing minimal minutes as Portland fall to a 2-0 deficit in their series against Memphis. The GB forward has now played 11 games in the NBA post-season.

Dan Clark recorded a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds as Fuenlabrada (7-22) claimed an 86-74 win on the road in overtime at the weekend. In LEB Gold action, Devon van Oostrum finished the season with Penas Huesca (9-19) with 14 points in a 68-62 home defeat, while Aaron Geramipoor had 2 points and five rebounds as Ouresene (20-8) closed out the regular season in second with an 89-49 victory. Meanwhile, Mo Soluade shot 4-8 from beyond the arc on his way to 16 points as Clinicas Rincon (9-19) ended on a high with a 73-67 win.

In Germany, Myles Hesson had back-to-back 12 point games as Bremerhaven (10-22) suffered two consecutive defeats this past week. The GB forward netted two triples and made 6/6 free throws in a 78-71 home loss, having scored another dozen in a previous 94-79 loss away from home. Orlan Jackman led Iserlohn with 15 points and 12 rebounds in Game 2 of the semi-finals, but it wasn’t enough as his side lost 91-61 and were eliminated from the Pro-B playoffs

In Greece, Pops Mensah-Bonsu produced another big double-double in the A1 league with 15 points and 17 rebounds to lead AEK Athens (14-9) to a convincing 96-73 home win. Ogo Adegboye and Aris (14-8) had the week off, while Justin Robinson featured in 9 minutes of a home victory for Kolossos (12-11).

Ovie Soko scored a team-high 14 points to lead Boulazac (20-10) to a 78-71 home win as they continue to build momentum ahead of the playoffs. In NM1 action, Eric Boateng recorded a big double-double with 18 points on 8-9 FG shooting and 15 rebounds, include six offensive boards, in a 101-93 road win for Mulhouse (17-13) as they climbed into seventh. Elsewhere, Tafari Toney scored 12 points as Sorgues (16-14) won 90-75 on their travels

Ashley Hamilton played in just one game for Sagesse in the Lebanese playoffs before returning to the UK. The GB forward contributed 2 points and 4 rebounds in the game 3 victory, and Sagesse went on to close out the series to reach the semi-finals.

Nigel van Oostrum dished out six assists in a 97-91 win for Leeuwarden (8-20) as they closed out the regular season; claiming the final playoffs spot. In Italy, Kyle Johnson is about to start his second playoffs campaign of the season as Angelico Biella finished 5th in the regular season, and will play Treviglio, who finished fourth in the below division – A2 Silver.
