GB’s Devon van Oostrum Joins Leeds Force on Loan

Leeds Force have pulled off an exciting capture of GB guard Devon van Oostrum after agreeing a loan deal with Liga Endesa side Laboral Kutxa Baskonia.

The agreement is primarily on a game-by-game basis, but Head Coach Matt Newby is delighted with the signing.

“Signing a player of Devon’s caliber is a great endorsement to the environment we are creating at the club,” he said. “We are privileged to have the opportunity, and it is a great deal for both parties.

“As an individual he has an extensive resume and I hope he will draw on those experiences to add to both our game day and practice culture.

“He has the ability not only to bring scoring to the team but also facilitate others and I hope we can maximise both sides of his game, as it could well be the difference in not just competing but vying for a playoff spot.”

Baskonia announced the move earlier this evening as they offload van Oostrum for a third different loan spell this season. The 21-year-old had unsuccessful stints in Croatia and Finland having had loan deals cut short with both Cibona Zagreb and Kouvot.

Recent Force signing Gio Estrada has been released, as was Mathias Weissl, while Patrick Nyeko left the club. Former Durham forward Sam Attah was signed last week and impressed in a debut win at Sheffield.

Leeds have received international clearance to allow DVO to make his debut in Friday’s home game against Plymouth Raiders at the Leeds Beckett University Sports Arena. Tickets here.
