Great Britain Senior Men collected their first victory of the summer in their final warm-up game for the 2015 EuroBasket qualifiers after thrashing Moldova 92-43 on Monday.
After weekend defeats against Belarus and tournament hosts, GB rounded off their participation in the Tbilisi City Hall Cup with a timely confidence boost.
At the end of the first, there were just two points separating the two teams but GB powered on in the second to outscore their opponents 32-9 to open up a commanding 51-22 advantage. There was no let up in the third as the lead continued to rise and GB went on to compete a 49-point rout.
The team filled the stats sheet with five players reaching double figures led by Devon van Oostrum’s 16 points with the guard also adding seven rebounds and seven assists in a great all-round display. Eric Boateng was one rebound shy of a double-double with 15 points and 9 rebounds as was Matthew Bryan-Amaning with 13 & 9 while Myles Hesson added 14 points.
Co-captain Drew Sullivan and Devan Bailey sat out as did Ashley Hamilton after he picked up an injury in Sunday’s defeat to Georgia.
Joe Prunty’s side begin their quest to qualify for the 2015 EuroBasket next Sunday with a trip to Iceland before hosting Bosnia at the Cooper Box Arena on Wednesday 13th – live on BT Sport.
