Great Britain’s warm-up games ahead of this summer’s EuroBasket 2015 qualifiers continued with a 77-68 defeat to Belarus in Georgia on Saturday.
Joe Prunty’s side are competing in a four-team tournament in Tbilisi over the weekend and looked to be heading for their first win of the summer after leading by 19 at half-time.
However, they were outscored 56-28 by their opponents in the second half and managed just nine points in the final quarter as Belarus snatched the victory.
“It was a tale of two halves,” Head Coach Joe Prunty said after the game. “We cannot afford to play that way. We must play for 40 minutes, on both ends of the floor, and it starts with defense.”
Dan Clark top scored with 13 points while Gareth Murray added 12 and there were 10 points each for Kyle Johnson and Devon van Oostrum. Eric Boateng and Myles Hesson impressed on the boards with 11 and 10 rebounds respectively.
GB are next in action on Sunday, when they face hosts Georgia at 1500 BST. There will be a live stream available of the game and you can follow the game here.
They then face Moldova on Monday at 1230 in their final preparation game before the start of the EuroBasket qualifiers, which begin on Sunday 10th August when Great Britain go to Iceland.
