Bryan-Amaning Begins Busy Summer with #HASC14 Showing

By Joe Hewison

Matthew Bryan-Amaning demonstrated his ability to fill the boxscore and thrill the fans in equal measure at the Hoopsfix All-Star Classic at Brunel University last Sunday.

And, following such a performance, it is little surprise he is a man in demand this summer.

The 26-year-old is coming off another successful season, which began in the BBL with his hometown London Lions and culminated with a Pro B championship in France.

But he showed no signs of fatigue as he went for 28 points, 10 boards, three assists and three steals – to go with some clutch free throws and a handful of highlight reel plays – as he lead Team White to a 87-85 victory in the inaugural Under-26 All-Star Game.

And it appears that was just the start of what could be a busy summer for MBA, who has also just returned from a weekend in Paris with the Midnight Madness team at Quai 54.

He said: “I played in Pro A with Antibes for a little bit this season, then I ended up moving to Boulogne, over by Calais, and won the championship with them and helped them get promoted from Pro B to Pro A.

“Right now I am waiting to hear from my agent about Summer League. There are a couple of teams we are talking with, who are interested in me playing, so we are just waiting to see which is the best decision.

“From there, after Summer League, obviously if I get an invite to camp with an NBA team I will try that, if not, I will make a decision.

“But teams have been in contact, teams from France, Lithuania, Turkey, so teams all over, just trying to see what my plans are.

“I am just holding out and waiting until Summer League and then I will decide after that.”

With so many options it is understandable the explosive forward is not certain of his plans when it comes to suiting up for Great Britain this summer.

But needless to say, it is part of the discussion.

“Obviously I want to play,” Bryan-Amaning added.

“I have been talking with Coach Prunty about it and we are just going to get all the dates, and everything goes from there.”
