HARRISON SEEKS TROPHY HIGH

glasgow rocks 568Glasgow Rocks captain EJ Harrison has admitted he would be able to retire contented if he lifts the BBL Trophy on Sunday at the Emirates Arena.

The 36-year-old American, who has been battling hip problems all season, has hinted strongly he may call time on his career when his current deal with the Rocks ends in May.

Sterling Davis’ men will be heavy underdogs when they face treble-chasing Worcester Wolves but with the clock ticking down, Harrison plans to push himself through the pain in order to deliver on his vow to bring silverware to Glasgow.

“I have played in a couple of finals but I know this might be my last year,” he said. “We’ve been working towards this goal. It would mean a lot of me, with the work I put in. It would mean a lot for Sterling. I want to see him win something. It would mean a lot for everybody. But we know we’re going up against a top team.

“They’ll be tough. They have three good imports. They’re well coached. They stick to their plan and that’s what they are at the top of the league”

With Harrison fighting injury, Davis could opt to stick with Jonny Bunyan as his starting point guard for the final. And Harrison expects the 21-year-old Scot to rise to the occasion.

“He comes from a good pedigree,” he said. “But it’s what he’s done himself more than anything. You see how he approaches every day in practice. It’s the same as he is in the game. He’s relentless. He’ll take big shots. He’s done it for Falkirk every week since he was a kid so this is just how he is.”
