Pops Mensah-Bonsu Signs with Galatasaray

Great Britain forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu will be returning to Turkey after signing with Galatasaray Liv Hospital, the club announced today.

Mensah-Bonsu, who was waived by the Washington Wizards last week after joining them for training camp and pre-season, last played in Turkey in 2011-12, where he won the treble, taking the Eurochallenge, Turkish Cup and TBL titles.

Pops has been brought in to temporarily replace Nate Jawai, who suffered a neck injury in Euroleague action last week. Last season he played with EA7 Emporio Armani Milan, where he averaged 8 points and 7 rebounds in 9 Italian League games.

It will be the 30 year old Londoner’s third stint playing Euroleague, having made his debut in 2008 with DKV Joventut of Spain, and then returning in 2009-10 as a mid-season signing by CSKA Moscow, helping them reach the Final Four.

Galatasary will be introducing him to Turkish media tomorrow afternoon.
