Marcotullio Cut as GB Final 12 Picks Itself

Alex Marcotullio has been released from the Great Britain Senior Men’s squad, meaning the final 12 for Eurobasket appears to have been selected, as Dan Clark is unexpected to be healthy.

Marcotullio has been battling fitness with an ankle injury, missing all but one of GB’s official preparation games.

“This was a very difficult decision for us,” said Head Coach Joe Prunty. “Alex has tremendous work ethic, skill, and high character. We appreciate everything he did with us.”

It means officially there are still 13 players on the squad, however, Clark has not been with the team since they left St George’s Park, remaining in the UK to rehab his ankle.

Therefore, barring a surprise addition, the final 12 is as follows:

GB open up their Eurobasket campaign on Wednesday 4th September against Israel, before facing France, Belgium, Germany and then Ukraine to complete the opening round.
