Clark Surprise Inclusion as GB Announce Final Eurobasket Roster

Dan Clark has provided the surprise of the summer after officially being named in the Great Britain Senior Men final 12 heading to Eurobasket in Slovenia next week.

The 6’11” forward, who has not played in any of GB’s preparation games so far and not believed to have been with the team since they opened training camp in St George’s Park, has been battling an ankle injury sustained at last year’s Olympics.

Even more bizarrely, Clark has failed his medical with new club CAI Zaragoza, with Spanish reports saying their medical team have recommended two months complete rest. However, Clark believes himself to be able to play immediately.

The addition of the sharp shooting big man is a huge boost to the squad, which has gone 1-6 in warm-up games, and means it was Liam Potter who ultimately became the final cut.

“Liam made great strides over the course of our training,” commented Prunty. “We appreciate his efforts and wish him the best with his team this season.

“I am very pleased with the final 12 players we have representing GB at EuroBasket 2013. Although we have faced some tough games in our preparation, we have played some of the best teams in the world which has tested our players and prepared them well for the challenges ahead in EuroBasket.

“We are now in Slovenia and looking forward to our first game against Israel on Wednesday.”
