GB Senior Men Cut to 14

Following the weekend’s games against Sweden and Poland, Great Britain head coach Joe Prunty has released Flo Larkai, Orlan Jackman and Paul Guede from camp.

The squad now stands at 14, with two more cuts to make before Eurobasket begins on September 4th in Slovenia.

Guede’s spell with the team lasted just five days after being called up Friday due to injuries to Andrew Lawrence and Alex Marcotullio, whilst Jackman has played sparingly throughout the team’s preparation games so far.

The release of Larkai comes as more of a surprise, given the team’s lack of depth on the inside.

“The guys have done an outstanding job for us from day one in camp,” said Prunty. “I appreciate the efforts made both on and off the court. All of us from the GB team thank them for everything they contributed and wish them the best in their upcoming seasons.”

“I am disappointed to be released but I leave a great group of guys and an excellent coaching staff,” commented Larkai, who will now re-join his Japanese said, Sendai 89ers. “I have learnt a lot which I will take back to my pro club this season.”

The fourteen players remaining in camp are as follows, with Dan Clark unexpected to be fit for Eurobasket, meaning it is likely there is just one more player Prunty must make a decision on:

The team is now in Spain ready for two final games against Spain on Wednesday (in Murcia) and Thursday (in Zaragoza).
