England Under-18s had a great start to the Torneo Internazional Valle D’Itria in Italy with a 74-71 victory over the hosts on Thursday evening.
It is a solid result against Italy, who last year finished 7th in Europe, and are the home-town team in the tournament which features four Division A sides from this summer’s European Championships.
Mo Soluade continue to be a huge factor after he joined the team a fortnight ago, as he led England with 26 points, Luke Nelson added 17, whilst Jules Christian finished with 9 and Kavell Bigby-Williams added 7.
Steve Bucknall’s side will now face Greece on Friday evening, before finishing the tournament against Ukraine, who are also in Group D with them at the Euros, on Saturday night.
The Division A European Championships begin on the 18th July in Latvia, where England will open up against Turkey.
