ACHARA LEADS SCOTS AGAINST AULD ENEMY

kieron_achara_568Great Britain international Kieron Achara will head up Scotland’s squad for this weekend’s double-header with England at Meadowbank.

American-based forward Ali Fraser and newcomer Ben Warrington of Boroughmuir Blaze have also been included by coach Iain Maclean in a 12-strong line-up for the two friendlies on Saturday and Sunday,

“We have a long term plan, and our main goal is the European Championship of the Small Countries next year,” said Maclean. “Against England, we will put 100% effort and we will fight to win.”

England coach Paul James has named three members of Leicester Riders’ treble-winning side in his squad.

11 of his 12-strong line-up comes from the BBL with Leeds Carnegie’s Jack Stannard the sole inclusion from the lower-tier EBL.

With no Great Britain caps available, James has also called up Kalil Irving from his own Worcester Wolves team for the Meadowbank double-header.
