Two London powerhouses went head to head yesterday as Westminster Warriors took on Barking & Dagenham Thunder in the second round of the U18 playoffs.
Warriors finished top of the South Premier with a 16-4 record, whilst B & D Thunder, who were rejected from playing in the top league by England Basketball to start the season (before everyone starts saying “why aren’t they competing in Premier though?!”), finished second in South II Conference with a 15-2 record.
It was a close game throughout, but early foul trouble hampered Westminster and they struggled with Thunder’s pressure, playing catch up the whole game. Barking & Dagenham pulled out the hard fought 77-65 win, behind David Akibo’s 32 points, to advance to the quarter finals.
Check out one of the highlights from the game as Westminster’s Terrel Garcia took the pass from Dwayne Orija on the baseline and threw it down over the Barking & Dagenham Thunder defender!
