Essex Leopards picked up their first piece of silverware on the season on Saturday, defeating Tees Valley Mohawks 99-91 in overtime in the National Trophy Final at the Braunstone Leisure centre in Leicester.
Greg Hernandez had a 26 point, 10 rebound double double as part of his MVP performance to lead the Leopards, who won the Trophy for the first time in the club’s history; it was the one title that eluded the Leopards in their ultra-successful 2011-12 campaign.
Taner Adu had 25, with Simon Cummings adding 23 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Robert Youngblood added 15 points and 12 rebounds.
David Hansen led Tees Valley with 31 points, David Glavan had 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists, whilst Jamie Kohn finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
